Deep Tissue Massage

What is a Deep Tissue massage?

While many experts believe the origin of Deep Tissue massage lies in Egypt, modern history can trace it back to the mid 19th century Canada, where Deep Tissue massage was used to treat injuries such as whiplash. By the end of the 19th century this massage technique had spread to the US where it only grew in popularity.

Now most commonly used to treat muscle strain and sports injuries Deep Tissue massage uses slow deep strokes, to apply a continuous pressure to the interior layers of muscle and connective tissue. Using their hands, elbows and forearms to assist them, your therapist will assess your muscles before deciding on the best course of treatment for you.

They will then use a specific set of techniques to release adhesions, heal tissues fibres and strengthen your muscles.
